Subject: Workshop on Conflict Resolution in Beirut Lebanon
To: "Alma Abdul-Hadi Jadallah, Ph.D."

Dear Dr. Abdul Hadi Jadallah

Thank you so much for taking valuable time of your very busy schedule to come to Beirut to engage us in a day workshop of Conflict Resolution. To many of us; thirty people who attended had no previous clear idea about this emerging science.

The workshop was really an eye opening experience in which we learnt to differentiate between conflict management on one hand and conflict analysis and resolution on the other. Also the basic knowledge to identify sources of conflict based on different aspects including cultural heritage and norms and approaches to resolutions that can build relationships or may weaken them has inciteded the listeners to spontaneously reflect on and voice out possible applications on their real issues. The awareness of the participants was not only raised to the existence of a methodology that leads to comprehensible, concrete and effective results, a realistic outline was presented defining conflicts that are negotiable and others harder to negotiate based on the different categories of needs underlying the conflicts. Examinig the diversity and the political polarization of the Lebanese society, we were brought to realize that the positive characteristics of a heterogeneous community becomes negative when damage and hurt inflicts part or all of this community. A reality we all found to be essential to reflect on by all Lebanese. After experimenting in analyzing examples of chosen conflicts when divided in groups thus translating theory into practice, the participants all wished to have more workshops in this domain. These incites and comments were drawn from the impressions and comments the attendees made including us of the iqra' Association members who discussed the workshop in our meeting that followed.

The workshop undoubtedly taught us a lot that we can apply in our work with school officials, teachers and children. More workshops tailored specifically to us
would be welcomed and encouraged when your valuable time permits. We ,at Iqra' Association highly appreciate your kindness, generosity and support.
Truly,

President.
